BIOGRAPHY
Nigel Charman entered the GSM+D at the age of 17 in 1976 and left with a Graduate diploma in 1980.
Nigel then spent 25 very enjoyable years freelancing in London. Much of his time was spent in London’s West End, shows including Pirates of Penzance, Song and Dance, On Your Toes, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre and finally Saturday Night Fever. During that time he also enjoyed a successful freelance orchestral career working from time to time with all five symphony orchestras based in London, many chamber orchestras and contemporary ensembles and smaller groups.
In the 90’s he started working additionally in the London recording scene. Highlights were many film scores for Jerry Goldsmith including Total Recall, Malice, Medicine Man, Ghost and the Darkness and Fierce Creatures. He also worked for Michael Kamen, which included the film Baron Munchausen and recording and concert projects featuring David Sanborn and Eric Clapton. Other projects were for Henry Mancini (including the film Son of the Pink Panther), Chuck Gerhardt (Readers Digest recordings), and Lorrie Morgan’s “Merry Christmas from London”.
Nigel joined the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2004. In 2006 Nigel participated in the PASIC in Austin where his association with the Joyful Noise Drum Company began.
