BIOGRAPHY
Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, Chris Layton (aka Whipper) moved to Austin, Texas in 1975 and joined the Greezy Wheels band. Three years later, joined the newly-formed Double Trouble, featuring the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan. Layton, along with Tommy Shannon and Reese Wynans, recorded with Vaughn until his death in 1990.
Chris and Tommy Shannon formed several supergroups over the years which include Arc Angels, Storyville, and Grady.
Chris has performed with the likes of Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and jazz guitarist Larry Carlton — just to name a few. He's currently the drummer for the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.
